Spent time the last week of December reflecting on 2020 and all its challenges but also all the joyful moments it came with. The struggles we through strengthen who we are. For the past few years, around that time I’ll write my goals for the following year on what I want to focus on and achieve.
I’m not big on resolutions but having a plan is what motivates and moves my decisions in life. Personally, I’ve seen God’s blessings over my life when I intentionally write out my goals for the next year.
This past year, I don’t think I’m the only one that can agree that our plans don’t always go according to our expectations. I’ve learned that God’s plans will always be bigger than my own. For the year 2021, I want to prioritize my purpose. To make an eternal impact, to be open to change, to be intentional with my relationships, and so much more.
As I take time to evaluate and pray, I encourage you to take time to write out your plans for this next year. Be specific. Break it down, month by month if you have to. Hold yourself accountable to your goals. For me, I’m declaring my new year to God. Starting off with Him at the forefront of my life.
It’s 2021 and I finally got my dream office! This blog was birthed in 2020 and I can’t wait to continue creating more content for you! Since we moved into our condo in 2018, we agreed we wanted an office over a guest room. Michael had purchased us his and hers desk which I loved the idea! He built them and surprised me when I got home from work! Those days bring a big smile to my face because we were a few months away from getting married and shared such sweet memories. Starting this blog, I knew I wanted a space to be creative and get my brain going. I love having an environment that pushes you and drives you to accomplish and reach your goals.
Not only did Alexis design our second condo project with Alexis Drew Interior Design but she also remodeled our master bedroom last May and we were in love with how the whole room was transformed. I’ve been thinking of sharing a blog post on this, what do you think?? I used Pinterest as a guide to what I wanted but, Alexis was the artist behind the work. When she revealed the wall to me I was in shock! It came out even better than I dreamed of! Also, I can’t forget to mention the custom plexiglass calendar she made it! OBSESSED! It’s exactly what I wanted and I love the gold accents. I’m so thankful for our interior designer she is truly the best of the best!

“When I first walked into their office it was dark, unmotivating, and just plain. We first talked about their needs and wants, and how they function in the space. Then the fun began! The overall house has a farmhouse modern design so I defiantly wanted to carry that out in the office but with a little more color. We ended up using black, white, and gold accents throughout the space. I wanted to use textured materials like the chalkboard wall and wood accents to tie in the farmhouse look. We also ended up using a pop of color with the fun rug! When I began, I knew I wanted to create a fun focal wall in the office.
We went through quite a few ideas before coming up with the chalkboard wall, to be honest! The chalkboard wall won over any other idea just because it was so versatile and fun. I love the idea of wiping the chalkboard clean and just creating a whole new design whenever we want. Also did I low-key pick the chalkboard wall in hopes of a Canales baby? Only the Lord knows (wink wink) Fran then gave me her favorite motivational words to make the room inspiring. I also had the idea of adding faux wall sconces. No wiring was necessary!
Just a couple of puck lights from Amazon and a handy fiancé to mount it for me. I also had him build the half wood wall to break up the focal wall a bit. (Thanks Chris!)" - Alexis Drew
Really loving this space, and quite inspiring!
