Have you ever had the desire to start or join a Bible Study?
I’ve always had the idea and passion for starting a bible study but I never felt totally qualified or even knew how to begin. Am I the right person? Who’s going to join? Would it be virtual? Would it be in person? So many questions came to mind. I can now see that God was preparing me for this ministry I would enter into. God would use me to lead other women and share my life with them.
2 Timothy 3:16-17, Joshua 1:8, Psalm 119:105,
Hebrews 4:12, Ephesians 2:8-9
Let me include you on a whole God story if you tell me--- in the summer of 2020 I had teamed up with my business partner to do a brand shoot for our business WeddedLife&Co which we both are a part of as wedding planners. I had reached out to a few friends and girls through Instagram that would be interested in modeling our jean jackets for a photoshoot.
To be honest, it’s hard to bring girls together in today’s society and expect them to get along. Long story short, the girls connected immediately and were so genuine and kind.
Some weeks later, I was sharing an Instagram story that I was in the word reading James and some of the verses that really spoke to me.
Shortly after, I received a DM from Tenille, one of my friends from high school mentioned that she was also reading James! She was interested in knowing if I was a part of a bible study or using a devotional?
I opened up and shared my quiet time routine that included me reading a chapter of the bible and just letting God speak to me. I had recently finished Romans and jumped to James. She asked me if I had any ideas on how to do it and if we should create a group of other girls?
We both agreed we needed accountability as well LOL This conversation sparked the idea of starting a bible study and inviting the girls from the photoshoot.
It sounds crazy, but our only connection to each other was me and our faith in God. Apart from that, we came from different backgrounds, different churches but we worshipped the same God! Can I get an amen?!
Friend, I’m telling you I strongly believe everything happens for a reason and nothing is a coincidence and we were all meant to be there on that day for the photoshoot for a greater purpose.
We didn’t even know it. LITERALLY gives me chills. God knew our hearts and our longing for true community. I had recently discovered (The Daily Grace Co) and saw they had tons of bible studies to choose from and I knew this would be a great starter for us.
The studies were so essentially pleasing and unique beautiful designs. We started a group chat and started suggesting different studies and agreed on Daughters of Grace.
“The Daughters of Grace study is a study of the women of the Bible and the God of grace. The six week study covers 28 women of the Bible. The book includes daily study questions and is perfect for group or individual study.”
We were coming into this not knowing what to expect and some not even knowing each other. Mind you, I have never started a bible study or been a part of such an intimate group. Usually, the community groups and women's groups I’ve been a part of at church were larger groups.
So, a bible study that was 6 weeks turned into a two-month bible study LOL that’s what happens when girls get together and life is in the mix. What do you do? Give yourself grace 😉
Each page of the study had an assigned day of the week (Week 1 Day 1) included were the bible verses, summary reading and reflection questions. I’ve got to say the summaries and questions were very easy to read but impactful as well. The study is $20 but when they have their sales you can get it for $5 or $10.
What I took away from the Daughters of Grace Bible Study
First, I’ve never heard teaching or study on the women of the bible so I was super excited to learn about these women and their faith. Even reading Eve, my mind and perspective on how I viewed her changed because not only was she identified as the woman who caused separation from God and sin into this world. BUT, she was also the first wife and mother. God still used her and was apart of His story.
God continued to use the women in the bible even though they were outcasted, imperfect, and in their culture not seen as the first to be thought of. Instead, they honored and trusted the Lord wholeheartedly.
God sought them, blessed them, and provided for them. He uses ordinary women like me and you in His story of redemption.
